Seeing as most other RPGs have a set of rules, I figured I would add in some here too. I will try to make these rules so that they can be adapted for all RPGS on this website.
1. Be creative. Remember, one does not always have to be stuck in the "real life" mindset. As long as you stay within the planet's main rules, the rest can be bent to your liking. A lot of times the rules will stand more as guidelines, so there are ways to break them.
2. Please don't make your character too powerful. It would really stink if one character was so powerful that they could never be injured or if everyone they fought with died. Things like invinceability, mind reading, and full magical powers are somewhat hard to work with without making a character too powerful.
3. Respect the other characters. One being just can't go around killing off other characters unless it has been discussed and both parties are ok with it. Also, don't do things to another character that would be out of character for them. Try to read the character sheets so you get a feel for the other characters' personalities.
4. Try not to curse. A lot of times other words can be used in place of curse words and really any word can be used in the place of a curse word. Always try to be creative.
5. If you use a different language, either make it clear what you are saying, or provide a translation at the end of the post.
6. Violence can add interest to a story, but try not to be too gory or overly violent. Things like sword/gun fights are ok and even physical fights are cool, but don't freak other people out (and try not to give anyone nightmares).
7. Try to keep up with the RPG. If you will not be able to play for awhile due to circumstances, let the other players know. I'm sure it won't be a problem for anyone to hold off for a few days, but we wouldn't want to continue the story without an important character.
I think that's all for now, but if I have forgotten anything, or if anyone is unhappy with these rules, feel free to contact me. Don't get too hung up in the rules, as it is more important for everyone to just have fun!
