You know how there are all these statistics and what-not, but what animal do you really think is the smartest?
I think all animals are smart in their own different way. I also think that within that species there are extra smart individuals and extremely dumb individuals.
What do you all think?

I sorta agree with that. I think that there are Golden Retrievers smarter than others, and such.
But I also think there are anamals with a larger capacity for knowledge and such. Dolphins, for example. And mokeys. ;D

Hmmm, it depends what you mean by smart really. Intelligence, problem solving, lateral thinking, all these things are components of 'smart'. For an animal to be truly considered smart then they would have to have a balance of all the componants, but then there will always be other animals that are better at one or other of the componants so could be considered smarter in those ways. Interesting question. I may have to look into it

do humans count? Not that we're all that smart, of course. We have our own ways, which...make things. Build things. We are a race of...instinctive expansion, i think. maybe like a virus, as The Matrix states. The smartest animal animal? I suppose that would, as was said, depend on what intelligence means. Is is problem-solving? The 'saying we exist'? Animals are smarter than most people think. I think. But I, of course, am human.

Lol, you make that sound unfortunate...
I think more than half the human population falls into the second category.
